About this location

Vembanad is Kerala's largest wetland system and the longest lake in India, the backbone of the state's famous backwaters. Kumarakom, on its eastern shore, is the best-known single access point, but the lake's full extent supports a far larger mosaic of mangroves, paddy fields below sea level, and waterbird habitat.
