About this location
The second-largest of Kerala's backwater lake systems, Ashtamudi's eight-armed estuarine network (its name means "eight braids") supports mangroves, otters, and a working fishing and houseboat economy alongside its birdlife — backwater tourism and wetland conservation overlapping directly.
