About this location
A national park in the Alipurduar district protecting terai grassland and sal forest near the Bhutan border. Jaldapara is the finest location in West Bengal for photographing Indian one-horned rhinoceros in tall Himalayan foothill grasslands, with large herds frequently visible from elephant safaris.

Safari Zones
Jaldapara has a few distinct safari experiences. Jeep safaris start from the Madarihat side into the grasslands along the Torsa river; early-morning elephant safaris leave from Hollong; and the neighbouring Chilapata forest, a corridor to Buxa, has its own jeep safaris. The park closes from mid-June to mid-September.

By Road
Madarihat, the park's gateway, is about 125 km from Siliguri via NH17/NH31C. Hollong, inside the park, has the forest lodge and the elephant-safari starting point.
