At over 4,500m, Tsomoriri is one of the highest-altitude breeding sites anywhere for the black-necked crane, alongside vast flocks of bar-headed geese that nest on its shoreline islands. The lake's stark, high-desert setting makes any sighting here feel earned rather than routine.
