About this location
A pair of high-altitude lakes on the Changthang plateau, Tso Kar's salt flats and marshes host breeding black-necked cranes and large flocks of bar-headed geese against a backdrop shared with kiang (Tibetan wild ass) herds grazing the surrounding grassland.

Part of the same Changthang overland circuit as Tsomoriri; the flat, open terrain makes for excellent long-distance scanning of both cranes and grazing kiang herds from a vehicle.
