About this species

The Alexandrine Parakeet is India's largest parakeet — a magnificent green bird with broad red shoulder patches and a massive red bill. Named after Alexander the Great who sent captive birds to Europe. Roost congregations at forest reserves at dusk can number in the hundreds — a spectacular sight against orange skies.
