About this location
Squeezed between Gurugram's high-rises and highways, Basai is one of Delhi NCR's most important — and most precarious — urban wetlands, drawing wintering waterfowl in numbers disproportionate to its shrinking size. It's a half-day birding stop for anyone based in Delhi or Gurugram rather than a planned expedition, and a stark illustration of how fast urban wetlands can vanish without secure protection.
